Slipping Away

Regrets, I’ve had not many, or too many, but time has slipped its leash and the end is nigh.

How do I know?

Look at that thing, just look at it. Last night, it was hope, today it is certainty. Time is up, time is gone, time is done and dusted and there’s nothing left in my timer.

Turn it over? Why would I do that? What is there to go on for? Is there a reason to turn over to the next day and the next and the next and …

Okay, just this once, mind, and then I’ll leave it as it stands.

One more day, one more blue sky that falls away with the light of the sun as it ends, and ends, and ends each new passage of time.
